GDR – General Danish Rules

The GDR provides a summary of the key information regarding a tournament, in addition to the chosen ruleset.

General rules

  • The tournament follows the latest version of NAF Regulations for Tournaments. If you have any questions about teams or Star Players, please ask the Tournament Organizer (TO) for clarification.
  • The pairings of game 1 are determined at random.
After that we will continue to use the swiss system.
  • Players added to a team roster mid game as a result of the masters of undeath or plague ridden special rule are removed from the roster at the end of the game and do not carry on to the next.
  • This is a resurrection tournament, no SPP are gained, and injuries, casualties or deaths do not carry on from one game to the next.
  • Tournament organizers (TOs) have the final say regarding all tournament related issues, be they rules, time issues, bad behavior or something else, TOs are the tournament caretakes and their decision is final.

Time limit

  • All games are played within a set amount of time, which varies from tournament to tournament. Make sure you know the game time before starting.
  • Some tournaments use a soft time structure, allowing play to continue into breaks, while others have a stricter approach where the game ends when time is up, regardless of the game’s state. Be sure to know which applies before the game starts.
  • Time management can be handled with a chess clock/app. If any coach at the table requests using a clock, both coaches must use it. If a coach runs out of time, they are only allowed to stand up any downed players and roll over stunned players.

Miniatures

  • The miniatures don’t have to be from a specific manufacturer.
  • The miniatures don’t have to be painted
  • The miniatures don’t need to have numbers on them
  • The miniatures must be clearly distinguishable either by model, base, paint or accessories.
  • We encourage coaches to use the following colors for bases and chosen skills, respectively.

Coded Base color:Coded Skill band color:
Grey/Black: Lineman
Red: Blitzer
Green: Blocker
White: Thrower
Yellow: Catcher, Runner
Purple: Specialist, Big Guys
Blue:  Block
Yellow:  Dodge
Green:  Guard
White:  Wrestle
Red:  Mighty Blow (+1)
Orange:  Tackle
In the event of any other colors, skills or figures, makes sure that you opponent is not in doubt what you have brought to the game. Don’t be afraid to ask a TO for help if you’re unclear about anything.

Team sheets, dice and more

  • All coaches must bring either a physical OR digital copy of their team roster. If your opponent requests to see your team sheet and you fail to provide it during the match, it is considered bad manners.
  • Dice must be easy to recognize and must be shared if requested.
If a coach cannot accept your dice, you must use standard dice, meaning NAF or GW dice. If a coach does not have these dice, ask the tournament organizer (TO) for assistance.
  • We encourage the use of dice cups when rolling dice.
Throwing dice by hand can accidentally hit other players’ carefully painted figures, which can be frustrating for those who have spent a lot of time on their miniatures.
While dice towers are also an option, some models may be a bit too creative for the setting. If you feel that a dice tower isn’t suitable, please inform a tournament organizer (TO), and they will make a decision.
